Kids Benefit From One Family's Initiative

What sets Cliff apart is his vision and commitment to making Santa Barbara a better place for young people to grow up and develop into young adults.

Born and raised in Santa Barbara, Cliff's earlier professional work as athletic director of the Boys and Girls Club and at Bishop Diego High School, and then his twenty year tenure with the City of Santa Barbara Youth Activities Program, has enabled him to personally touch and inspire many who were once unseen and unheard.

In 1986, Cliff co-founded a local nonprofit, the Endowment for Youth Committee, to provide an array of services to children in need.

"Motivated to give back in some tangible way to a community that has given others so much has been a primary goal for me, my deceased wife, Thelma and my current wife, Rosalyn. This is not measured by the level of wealth that we have, but more importantly, by the size of our will to enhance the quality of life for those that are less fortunate.

To provide reassurance that the Endowment for Youth Committee would be around for many years to come, Thelma Lambert and I donated $50,000 of our own funds to establish a Permanent Endowed Fund at the Santa Barbara Foundation to benefit the Committee. With approximately $500,000 in assets in the fund today, I am confident that we made the right decision.

It is the unwavering, charitable, giving spirit of the Santa Barbara community that truly sets it apart from perhaps any other place in the world. A community foundation allows people of all income levels to act as viable stakeholders in the vibrancy of our County's future."
